Frequently Asked Questions

Revision of a new chimney?

A label and declaration of conformity will be required before you start heating in your chimney. If you do not have a well-known inspection technician, we will be happy to arrange an inspection for you.

Can I run the chimney outside on the wall?

Yes, the chimney can be placed on the wall and if the wall is made of burnt bricks, there is no need for an expansion gap, for safety flat anchor strips are needed about a 3 feets.

Do I need to build foundations for the chimney?

Not for stainless steel systems.

Yes, for masonry systems, a foundation like a wall is needed. Under the outdoor chimney, a minimum depth of the base of 80 cm is needed. For indoor chimneys, 50 cm is enough, with an area of 50 cm x 50 cm.

What is a ventilation shaft at the chimney?

It is usually an air supply for the flame or can also be used for ventilation.

What to do if the chimney is on the outside and the appliance is inside?

The solution is to penetrate the wall by attaching a stainless steel structure to the flue and continuing into the chimney, fireclay parts do not pass directly through the wall, the surroundings must be insulated with non-flammable mineral wool.

What is a flue?

The flue is a part of the chimney connecting the appliance to the chimney, horizontally straight flue can have a maximum length of 250 mm, for longer ones a slope of 10 percent is recommended.

We do not recommend the cornered flue!

We recommend a direct outlet to the chimney, the solution over the corner does not have an ideal load-bearing capacity and does not guarantee the preservation of expansion joints.

When to use a rectangular (90°) flue and when inclined (45°)?

The vertical (rectangular 90°) flue is used for fireplaces and boilers. The oblique (45°) flue is only used for fireplace inserts. If you are not sure, we will recommend a vertical flue (90°).

Why do old chimneys fall apart from above?

New appliances have a higher efficiency and their waste heat output is lower, the condensation of moisture at the top of the chimney is permanently increased by this effect, and this excess moisture damages the building part and the surroundings of the chimney.

Recommended height of the chimney above the roof?
